MONSOON CARE

The beauty regime followed in one season reacts adversely when implemented in the next season. Hence, it is imperative to give your skin and hair the right nourishment as demanded by the changing weather.

Monsoon extends from the end of June to the end of August. The common problems that we come across during monsoon are acne ,skin eruption, wet hair dandruff, etc. Here are some of the do's and don'ts of tackling the monsoon blues. These tips may help you retain your elegant appearance in this season. Monsoon blues can be a temporary phase if you gear up properly to face the odds in a healthy know-all spirit.

FACIAL CARE

The best remedy for the skin would be strict adherence to regular routine of scrubbing, toning and moisturizing. Exfoliating the skin is of utmost importance to reveal glowing, cleansed skin. Toning is necessary as it effectively performs the dual role of toning and moisturising.

* Cleansing and Toning

-- Use facewash instead of the soap. Let's face it - all of us cheat every once in a while. With the humidity of the monsoon making us feel sticky, we tend to use soap to get a squeaky-clean skin, or so we think! The harshness of soap tends to dry out skin. Facewashes are your best bet - take care to choose one that is right for your skin type. One can also opt for facial soaps.

-- For cleansing, you may also use Shacleanse. Apply on face and neck in light circular finger movements. Wash off or remove with moist cotton wool. For toning, Sharose would be ideal. It can also be used for several times in a day. Mixed with Shagrain, it forms a powerful deep pore cleanser, dislodging blackheads and minimizing scars and blemishes.

* Moisturisation

Contrary to popular belief, every type of skin needs a moisturiser even in the monsoon. Well-hydrated, beautiful skin requires much less make-up. In humid weather, most of our deep hydration moisturisers tend to feel heavy and often leave an oily coating on the skin. Moisturising the skin is important as it imparts a radiant glow to the skin and gives the much needed hydration. You can use Shamoist, Shasilk or Shataj depending on your skin type. Switch to lighter formulations this season.

SHASILK : For oily skin
SHA TAJ : For oily and combination skin
SHAMOIST : Rehydrant Lotion for dry skin.
BARBARA CARTLAND : Honey rose mint moisturizer for dry and dehydrated skin.

Hair Care

Come the rains and it's your hair that suffers the most. Hair fall , frizz, limpness and flat hair are just some of the problems. The solution is to apply gentle conditioners and shampoos to tackle hair fall. A suitable cut is also welcome. Never let your hair get wet in the rains. Pollution, suspended particles in the air which come down with the rain can settle on your scalp. Hence, some feel itchy after getting wet in the rain. Always cover your hair with umbrellas or raincoats. Combined effect of sun heats and humidity can damage your hair. Massage your scalp regularly to keep dandruff and other hair problems at bay.

Your hair will need more frequent washing than dry hair. In humid weather, or if you are exposed to too many pollutants, you may need to wash your hair everyday.

Shaoint is an effective hair cream, which can be mixed with egg or water before application. It can be easily removed by washing with a gentle hair cleanser. You can use castor oil for promoting hair growth and follow the steaming method too.
