Your mind is blessed with infinite powers. All that you need to do is become aware of them and unleash them to conquer every negativity that comes in your way...

How would you feel when after a hard day's work you are about to leave for home and a new assignment pops up? Annoyed or irritated? Probably both! Most likely, I would have felt the same or at least the idea would not seem exciting at all. But not any more because meditation made me realise the infinite power of mind and how vital it is to unlock the hidden potential. It has helped in reducing my stress levels and has increased the power of concentration, apart from sharpening the art of discipline.

MIND OVER MATTER

Our mind has immense potential. It can heal us a from illness, injury or pain, and free us from mental disharmony. It's divided into four levels once and once you reach all four of them, that's when true bliss arrives. But, which is the best way to get there?

Physical and mental rest, adequate sleep, relaxation and meditation are as important as exercise in slowing the ageing process. Get into a hypnotic mode and then meditate. The best way to get into hypnotic mode is to count 10 to 1 slowly, feel as if all your body parts are getting relaxed, imagine your self lying on a beach or a similar calm place. Observe the breath going in an out! Still a bit baffled, you must be wondering how can we achieve all that we want out of life, just by meditating?

Meditation helps eliminate emotional conflict, inner discord and psychological tension. It completely purifies the mind and frees it from unconscious obstructions. The state of meditation or 'dhyana' is achieved when the mind is trained to concentrate on an outer or inner object, long enough for all distractions to be eliminated. In this state, the stream of thoughts flow in a single direction without interruption. The body is silently resting in this state. The only sign of life is breathing. The hypothalamus recharges during this time.

MIND MANTRA

An interaction will be incomplete if we ignore the ways to get rid of stress - the bug that's bitten all of us.

A disease is directly proportional to the lack of ease in your mind. The more you are at ease with yourself and your life, the better you feel. Otherwise, the negativity in you gets placed in your body, leading to a string of ailments. Here's how to deal with those bouts of anxiety and stress :

* Blame it on our work schedule but stress is now almost inevitable. It's absolutely imperative to take breaks at regular intervals.

* Try to meditate and give the much needed rest to your brain.

* Indulge in some physical activity, at least 10-15 minutes everyday. It will lower stress and reduce anxiety. Deep breathing exercises also help a lot.

* Stress can also be a result of your not taking nutritious diet. Make sure you include all the necessary vitamins and minerals in your daily diet.

* Sleep well. Irregular sleep patterns and poor quality sleep make you vulnerable to anxiety.

* Pamper yourself. Gift yourself a day at the spa and feel rejuvenated.
