Even though the world keeps harping on the concept of "New Woman", who is independent, having a mind of her own that firmly rejects oppression, women have not essentially discarded their inherent qualities of selfless love and sacrifice for fulfilling the greater motive of ensuring the welfare of their loved ones.
The undying zeal with which we observe International Women's Day reinforces the power of womanhood and emphasizes the fact that there is something ordinarily interesting between the woman of today and the women from history. Hence, it is meaningless to lay bans on pubs and discos and provoke the female fraternity to generate a revolt.
While we talk about acknowledging rights of women, we are not trying to negate the need of men in our lives. For growing higher in life, we would need the support of men. Law of nature dictates inter - dependency of men and women. And this is where the institution of marriage gains an upper hand. While we personify a climber, the man becomes the rock on which we support ourselves to grow higher.
On Women's Day, let us all unleash the real person in us as originally created by God and believe in being the centre of all existence. It is only from the branches of a healthy tree that the fruits of tomorrow will grow.
