Alexander Pope has rightfully expressed in his poem 'Odyssey' about the importance of travel as the ultimate source of learning. The education that one inculcates through travel is experiential and surpasses all the knowledge we can gain in studying all the books in a library. The true values of life can be learnt through interacting and taking genuine interest in new people and exploring new horizons.
Globe trotting has helped me broaden my perspective towards life and help me evolve constantly as an individual. Silent tranquillity settles in when one goes to the beautiful Hyde Park, one of the largest parks in London. It is ideal for long evening walks. The Speaker's corner provides a deeper insight of life on diverse topics in its unique amusing style. Coven garden is bustling with activities of street entertainers and vibrant visitors. There is a bit of fun for everyone. I retreat to childhood on the Merry go Round with the awe inspiring performance by acrobats and jugglers. I become innocent and playful in these places.
I love Picadilly and Trafalgar Square with its twinkling inviting lights-the serpentine lake with its stately swans, Oxford Street and Carnaby Street for world class stores.
Petticoat lane shelters every item under the sun and extends even to the surrounding streets with over one thousand shops. It is exemplary of the 'one stop shop' experience and there is no one who leaves dissatisfied with his wares.
The Bus tours takes you around all the places of London and you will never miss anything worthwhile on one ride. It feels like a return trip from history and magnificent relics to modernism.
The fresh air and scenic grandeur of the picnic spots in the outskirts of London is the perfect destination for relaxation, rejuvenation and enlightenment. The symbiosis of love and togetherness pervades us all.
Windsor Castle the Queen's working palace and residence, is an ancient heritage of orderliness, grace and beauty. The State Apartments contain some of the finest works of art, armour, paintings in the world. There are masterpieces by Rembrandt, Rubens, Holbein and Van Dyke as well as magnificent French and English furniture and porcelain. When the Queen is in residence and on special days the flag flies above the Castle.
The day long Cruise in the River Thames weaves its way through the heart of London where there is history around every bend. We can witness the experience the sights and splendour of this great city and witness elements of life moving here.
