It was another fun session with friends and colleagues in Barista. Away from work and yet at work, as work is fun. We had a huge crowd of senior and junior officials. There was a shortage of chairs to fit all of us - the Shahnaz family.
While we were informally mixing business and fun, one of us came up with the idea of going for a movie. This brought back memories of my time when going for a movie was a strict no-no for us. The focus of things was more creative like dramatics and poetry. I suddenly burst out laughing when I thought of some silly things I did as a child and thought of sharing it with all of you. My friends were laughing over it and I hope I can make you smile too.
In school, I was the leader especially in dramatics and plays. Whenever, we had to perform a play, I used to be the multifaceted Shahnaz Beg - the director, the dialogs writer, actor, diva, chorus et all. I used to get the most coveted roles and if there was a role of Queen, it had to be me. For all my activities at school, I had won many accolades.
Perhaps, the inkling to be a leader was evident at this tender age. As Wordsworth said - the child is the father of man, Shahnaz Husain displayed her fortitude at a very early stage.
Musing through the early days, a funny incident struck my mind. There was a play where I had to play the leader of Red Indians. It was an interesting play that was being presented on the auspicious occasion of Founder's day La Martiniere's school.
I was leading a gang of red Indians. The scene was a parade with all of them following me in rhythmic dance steps. There were strict instructions given that they would all follow me blindly and do the same actions. While merrily doing the dance and its movements, my trouser's string broke. The pants became lose and slowly started sliding off. When I became aware of what was happening, I got double tensed. My instincts were guiding me to run from the stage but I could not take that chance as the entire troupe would also mimic the same action and run out. I kept dancing and changed the steps. I brought my hands to my pants at intervals and gradually brought it to my waist. The remaining gang followed the same action innocently. The entire auditorium was in splits of laughter. The echo of their laughter continued for a very long time.
After the play everyone asked me what had happened? Had my pants come off or was it a part of the play? I maintained that it was a part of the play and I still do (with a naughty grin and wink).
I feel very nostalgic about my younger days. I enjoyed every play I did and remember this dialogue very well - Is it not customary to wear your hat Chamberlain?

wow aunty....it seems as if you had the bestest times in your school days.. love '' pooja

For oily skins and oily-skin conditions like acne, cleansing of the skin is of great importance. Excessive washing with soap and water destroys the natural protective acid mantle of the skin and predisposes it to bacterial activity. This is because an alkaline surface encourages bacterial attack.
Since a blackhead is a primary acne lesion, controlling the formation of blackheads is one way of preventing acne. So, if you have blackheads, without acne, you need deep pore cleansing. Wash your face twice a day with lukewarm water. Apply Shazema medicated cleanser and rinse with plenty of plain water. Next mix Shagrain with Sharose and rub the skin gently with the paste, paying special attention to the areas with blackheads. Leave it on or five minutes and wash off. Wipe your skin with Sharose, using cotton wool, to complete the cleansing process. The night time cleansing is a must.
The treatment of acne depends on how far it has progressed. If the infection is severe, the emphasis will be on the control of the infection, by means of Shaclear, anti-acne lotion, Shaclove face treatment cream and medicated ointments, like Shaderm and Shablem. A course of clinical treatment would be required to reduce surface oil. It would also help to create a germicidal environment and cure the existing eruptions.
Professional acre for acne also entails a daily - care routine as part of home treatment.
Morning - wash face with Shazema by applying it on the face with a gentle circular movement. Rinse off with water. Mix Shabase (more) with Shasilk or shataj (less) and apply for a daytime cover.
Afternoon - wipe face with Sharose, using cotton wool. Apply Shaderm and Shaclove on the pimples /acne.
Night - wash face with Shazema. Cleanse the area around the eyes, lips and neck with Shacleanse by applying it on these regions and wiping it off with moist cotton wool. Apply Shasmooth around the eyes and on the lips. Remove all cream from the area around the eyes before going to sleep. Apply Shaclear lotion on the eruptions and leave it on at night. Next morning, wipe it off and clean face with Shamint, using cotton wool. The problem of scars, if any, can be tackled once the acne condition subsides. Preventive treatment should also be followed, to prevent the problem from recurring. In other words, you should continue to take daily care of the skin with appropriate products, so that surface oils is reduced and blackheads are prevented from forming. Indeed, it is extremely essential to understand the requirements of your skin and give it the right kind of care.

I am always there to help you. If you find you are losing more hair than normal, or have a problem with your hair, you should seek professional help in good time. In most cases, the loss of hair can be controlled with treatment and appropriate hair care.
First of all, it is necessary to identify the cause of hair loss. A general medical examination should be your first priority, so that problems like iron deficiency, thyroid or hormonal imbalances, scalp disease and so on can be dealt with.
The next thing to do is to stop all procedures that may be causing damage or trauma, like perming, bleaching, chemical dyeing, excessive use of hair dryers, brushes, rubber bands and so on. It is necessary to remember that hair is in a weakened state and must be treated accordingly. As far as treatment is concerned, cases of general hair loss and alopecia have been treated t the Shahnaz Herbal clinics through clinical treatments and specialized products. Hair loss caused by hormonal imbalances, as is common in the post-pregnancy period and during menopause, as well as in hair damage, scalp disease and anaemia, have been successfully treated through specialized treatments and products that have been formulated according to the ayurvedic system. Cases of ahir loss that are stress - related have also responded well to treatment. The clinical treatments consist of procedures that help to stimulate the follicles, improve blood circulation and restore health to the scalp and hair. Medicated lotions are applied to check the problem of hair loss and to improve the condition of the hair.

Hi Shahnaz, I have not used many of your products but I highly acclaim the ones that I have used. Coming to my problem, I wish to know about a daily skin-care program which would give me a glowing skin within few months. Moreover, my elbow region and pubic region has completely turned dark. Can you suggest me some remedies? Also, I would like to know how can I go ahead with the gold facial procedure at home? Is it very necessary to use the machine for the skin to absorb the gel or a professional massage will work wonders. I know these are too many questions for you to answer, but I am really eager to have a healthy and glowing skin. Thank you.
Dear Shahnaz ji, I am 29 years old with fair complexion. The only drawback is that i have alot of blackheads on my nose area which spoils my complete look. Have tried a no. of things but to no avail. Look forward to your advise.
i am 42.few years ago i had a beautiful hair.but within 1 yr. 90% hair loss.within one month 70% fall.i have huse dandruff.last year ihad take medicine for dandruff controll.but at this moment it recur again.and also hair falling hasbeen started.i am in fear if it goes like now i shall be baldheaded very soon.please save me .i think my hair is dry in nature.ican"t use any anti dandruff shampoo because my hair turned white.please send your early advice iam an unmarried woman.
Dear Jhimly, for dandruff, apply Shatone herbal hair tonic on the scalp daily, using cotton wool and leave it on.It is non-oily.
Wash the hair with a mild herbal shampoo at least three times a week, using less shampoo and rinsing very well with water. Half an hour before shampoo, apply one tablespoons vinegar on the scalp, massaging it lightly into the scalp.
Once a week, heat olive oil or til oil and apply on the scalp at night. Leave on overnight. Next morning, apply the vinegar as advised half an hour before shampoo.
Henna treatments once a week or three times a month will also help. Add 4 teaspoons each of lemon juice and coffee, 2 raw eggs and enough"tea water"to the henna powder, mixing it into a thick paste. "Tea water" can be made by boiling used tea leaves again in enough water, cooling and straining the liquid. Apply the henna on the hair and wash off after an hour. If you do not wish to use egg, add more tea water.
You should include fresh fruits, raw salads, sprouts and yogurt in your daily diet. Drink plenty of water.
